  1. The role

The Nutrition Officer will lead and support the implementation of nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive activities under the NOURISH project, with a strong focus on schools, households, and communities. This role contributes to improved dietary diversity, nutrition knowledge, and healthy feeding practices for children and caregivers, while strengthening linkages between nutrition, WASH, education, and gender equality interventions.

The Nutrition Officer will work closely with schools, Community Health Volunteers teachers, school cooks, School Health Focal Points, municipal health authorities, and community groups to deliver high-quality nutrition programming aligned with national guidelines and CARE standards.

  1. Selection criteria
  • Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, Public Health, Community Health, Food Security, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience implementing community-based or school-based nutrition programmes, preferably in rural or remote settings.
  • Practical experience in nutrition education, cooking demonstrations, dietary diversity promotion, or Infant and Young Child Feeding.
  • Experience working with schools, community groups, Community Health Volunteers and local health authorities.
  • Experience integrating nutrition with WASH, health, education, or gender programming.
  • Strong facilitation and community engagement skills, including working with women, caregivers, and vulnerable groups.
  • Experience in field monitoring, data collection, and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently in field-based environments and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Fluency in Tetum with strong communication skills at community level.
  • Working knowledge of spoken and written English.
